Object detection using motion estimation

Systems and methods of detecting an object using motion estimation may include a processor and motion estimation and object detection logic coupled to the processor. The motion estimation and object detection logic may be configured to include logic to detect an object in a frame of a video based on motion estimation. The video may include a first frame and a second frame. The motion estimation may be performed on a region of the second frame using sum of absolute difference between the region of the second frame and a corresponding region of the first frame.

1. An apparatus comprising:
configurable or fixed-functionality logic hardware to perform motion estimation on a region of a second frame of a video having a first frame and the second frame; and logic to determine whether to perform object detection on the region of the second frame based on the motion estimation on the region of the second frame, wherein the second frame is a subsequent frame relative to the first frame in the video, and wherein the logic hardware to perform the motion estimation includes logic to determine a sum of absolute difference between the region of the second frame and a corresponding region of the first frame and to perform object detection based on a comparison of the sum of absolute difference and a threshold.
