The cask or container grip has a drive (5) which is fastened on to the lower ring (16) allowing the length of two of the three arms (3) to be altered via a handwheel (2). The gripper arms can be locked on to fold edge (12) of the cask (13). The gripper arms consist of guide rods (6) which are straightened by guide elements (5b) on the drive housing (5a). Claws (8) attached to the arms have recesses (4) to grip the cask edge.
