Motor vehicle air-conditioning and heating system

The vehicle air conditioning system has a single fresh air inlet, via a filter, and with a single blower (1) to blow the air into a warm air duct (5) and into a parallel cold air duct (4). A chiller (7) in the cold air duct and a fuel fired heater (6) in the warm air duct provide a wide range of temperature control. A proportional flow control flap (13) controls the relative air flows through the two ducts. The chiller is part of a compact, self contained cooling unit and is mounted in a compact setting as is the fuel fired heater unit. The warm air duct can also be fitted with an engine coolant heat exchanger (3). The parallel air flows are mixed in a chamber (2) before being passed to the outlet vents inside the vehicle.
