The device has a recuperator piston in a cylinder which separates a warm cylinder chamber from a cold one. The system pressure between the cold and warm cylinder chambers, when exceeding a max. value, is injected in a high pressure reservoir. The system pressure, when going below the min. pressure value, is filled up from a low pressure reservoir. Due to the pressure difference between the high and low pressure reservoirs, an energy exchanger, an accessory drive and/or a working piston are driven.
