PURPOSE: To provide an image pickup system by which signal processing is easily performed and the cost is reduced. CONSTITUTION: An image pickup signal outputted from a CCD 1 consisting of picture elements of (m×n) in the longitudinal and lateral directions formed with R, G and B vertical stripes is converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter 3 via a CDS/AGC circuit 2, and inputted to an intermediate signal processing circuit 4. The intermediate signal processing circuit 4 outputs R, G and B primary color signals by applying a coincidence operation, and the R, G and B primary color signals are inputted to a liquid crystal driver 5 provided with a scanning line drive circuit and a data line drive circuit, and data in accordance with each picture element is outputted when a scanning line is selected, thereby, an image is displayed on a liquid crystal monitor 6 consisting of R, G and B vertical stripes with the picture elements of (m×n) in the longitudinal and lateral directions corresponding to the CCD 1 in one to one.
