The method involves showing the charge situation on a display. The time at which the next tariff unit group will expire is determined and displayed (2), whereby a tariff unit group (5) consists of at least one tariff unit. The number of tariff units in a tariff unit group is determined by a telecommunications service user with the aid of an input unit. The time at which the group expires is determined from the length and the start time of a tariff unit group.
