The object of the invention is a method for processing ash, the ash t being fed into a device, in which it is wetted by feeding in water v. During a first stage I the flow of ash t that has been fed into the device is spread out, preferably into a fan shape or equivalent shape tl, water v then being fed into the spread ash material tl in a second stage II, preferably by spraying, sprinkling or an equivalent method. The above-mentioned wetting of the ash means that processing takes place under ideal conditions in subsequent stages, there being no need during a final stage to process the ash mechanically, since it is already wetted.
