A tappet (1) having a hydraulic element for compensation for play (7), in which a forced opening of its check valve (15) is produced in the course of a base circle area alpha of the actuating cam (5). In accordance with the invention, this is achieved in that a closing member (16) of the check valve (15) is actuated by a final control element (21). This final control element (21) comes through a base (3) of the tappet (1) and co-operates with a groove (22) on the external casing (23) of the cam (5). This groove (22) stretches along the entire perimeter of the cam (5) with the exception of its base circle area. When the base circle area alpha is opposite the base (3), a forced opening of the closing member (16) results. In this way, undesirable discharge of the gas exchange valve, which is actuated by the tappet (1), and/or an opening of this valve by opening movements undesirably directed by the cam (5) against the element for compensation for play (7), can no longer ensue in the basic circle area alpha of the cam (5). |
