PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic disk device whose magnetic head can be loaded/unloaded stably and which can meet the requirements of high density recording while the size of the device is not increased. SOLUTION: A head actuator 22 and a ramp loading mechanism 25 which supports a magnetic head 40 at a position separated from a magnetic disk when the head actuator is moved to a non-operating position. The suspension 30 of the head actuator has a head supprting member which is extended from an arm 32 and a load application member which applies a predetermined load to the magnetic head. The magnetic head 40 is attached to the tip of the head supporting member. The ramp loading mechanism has a ramp 60 provided outside the magnetic disc 16 and a tab 42 which is extended from the tip part of the load application member and can be retained by the ramp. The tab is placed at a position shifted from the center axis of the head supporting member and on the outer circumference side of the magnetic disc crossing over the head supporting member.
