PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a suction air adjusting valve of a screw compressor capable of realizing a smooth opening/closing of a suction passage and an opening adjustment and to enhance a durability. SOLUTION: In the suction air adjusting valve 1A, a valve seat 21 is formed on an end at a downstream side suction space portion 24 side subsequent to an upperstream side suction space portion 23; a guide bar 37 is projected perpendicularly to a surface of the valve seat 22 at a center portion toward the downstream suction side space portion 24; a valve element 21 cooperating with the valve seat 22 is formed in a cross section of a hat shape and is movable along the guide bar 37 relatively slidably inserted in a recess portion 36 at the center portion thereof; a piston rod 38 for operating the valve element 21 is movably projected into the downstream side suction space portion 24 in parallel to an axis of the guide bar 37; and a coil spring 39 for always urging the valve element 21 so as to abut a top portion to an end of the piston rod 38. A recess portion 2 of an outward enlarged shape at which the top portion is inserted to the end is formed.
