PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce troublesome operation and to securely impart necessary metadata by selecting the metadata generating procedure corresponding to the type of data to be registered in the data server device, automatically generating metadata by using it, and registering the metadata additionally to the data. SOLUTION: A correspondence table is referred to by receiving the type of data detected by a data type detection module 201 to select the metadata generating procedure corresponding to the data type. A metadata generation module 203 reads in the program corresponding to the metadata generating procedure selected by the selection module 202 and uses this to generate the metadata corresponding to data passed from an access request process part. A metadata registration module 204 instructs a data management part to register the metadata generated by the metadata generation module 203 relatively to the corresponding data.
