PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the time turning to a loss part, and enable conversion of high efficiency when an output changes, by changing the ON term of an auxiliary switching element 34 in accordance with an output (P=Iin×Vout). SOLUTION: This step-up converter 10 is provided with a main step-up converter circuit 28 containing a first choke 20; a main switching element 24 and a first rectifier diode 26; and an auxiliary step-up converter 38 which is added to the circuit 28 and contains a second chock 30, an auxiliary switching element 34 and a second rectifier diode 36. On the basis of an input current Ii and an output voltage Vo of the main step-up converter circuit 28, the delay time TD determining the ON term of the auxiliary switching element 34 is calculated with a computer 44. The voltage of, e.g. a DC input power source 12 using a solar light power generation or the like is increased as an output voltage, which is supplied to a load 18.
