PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus, for the cutoff of a fluid on the surface of an object, in which it is possible to prevent an object such as an ultrasonic transducer or the like from being wetted or to reduce the degree of its wetting by a method wherein water which flows along the surface of the object such as a liquid tank or the like is cut off. SOLUTION: A barrier member 1 which has a prescribed length is installed on the surface visible from the bottom direction of the object (the liquid tank T). The barrier member 1 is constituted in such a way that it is composed of a material which cuts off the water flowing along the surface of the object (the liquid tank T) and which can maintain a shape even when it is wetted with the water and that it comprises a sticking means which sticks the water to the surface of the object.
