PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for precisely and efficiently capturing and exterminating many rats inhabiting in a site. SOLUTION: A food is kept to be aggressively fed to the rats inhabiting in some site while keeping a shutter of a capturing tool unoperated to wait the increase of the number of the rats coming to eat the food in the capturing tool. When many rats come to eat the food in the capturing tool without anxiety, the shutters of the whole capturing tools are set to capture a large number of the rats inhabiting at the site at a time. A similar capturing operation is also repeated by using capturing tools having shapes different from the one used before, when prescribed days have passed after the finish of the first capturing operation to capture the rats having moved to the other sites or newly having come thereto. The same operation is repeated for a required times according to the infestation condition of the rats while using the capturing tools different in shapes at each time. In these case, the capturing tool having the shutter precisely closed when the rat steps a stepping board in the capturing tool regardless of the light or heavy of the weight of the rat is used.
