PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silica removing method capable of properly detecting a time for replacing the seed because of the lowering of the silica removing capacity of the seed to always remove silica sufficiently and capable of eliminating the useless premature replacement of the seed. SOLUTION: Silica-containing water is passed through a column 1 filled with the seed 2 such as a silica gel or the like as ascending streams to form the fluidized bed of the seed 2. A valve 3 is opened to portionwise take out the seed 2 and the specific gravity of the seed 2 is detected to judge whether the seed 2 reaches the time for replacement.
