A process for reducing fume, dust and/or smoke emission in transferring molten metal, entailing:a) blanketing molten metal, preferably steel or iron with, at least, solid carbon dioxide; andb) allowing the carbon dioxide to sublime, thereby restricting free air access to the molten metal, and reducing fume, dust and/or smoke emission therefrom.
