PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switching power unit that can limit the output power of a power source by a method suitable for miniaturization, regardless of the modulation methods. SOLUTION: This switching power unit is provided with a reset means 5 between a switching signal generating means 4 and a switching element 1. This power unit can freely adjust the limiting amount of the output power of the power source, regardless of the modulating methods, by giving a reset pulse signal to the resetting means 5 and changing the duty of the reset pulse signal between 0% and 100%. Particularly, when the power source is adapted to soft start, a small-sized switching power unit, which is reduced in rush current and overshooting, can be provided.
