PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device, method, program, and recording medium for light detection which can measure with a high degree of accuracy. SOLUTION: The light detecting device measure brightness characteristics of light projected from a display to a projection plane under a certain illuminating condition. In the light detecting device, a light separating means 60f divides the light from the display into a light component and an illuminating light component, and the first operator generating means 60c generates the first operator including the influence of the projection plane used from data which is converted from element colors of the light detecting device to values in a coordinate system which does not depend on devices. The first conversion means 60g converts the separated light component of the display from element colors of the light detecting device to values in a coordinate system which does not depend on devices.
