PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience by eliminating a requirement of labor for light quantity adjustment or the like even when lightness of a light source is fluctuated or the like. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is provided with: an A/D converting part 102 for inputting image data on an original obtained from light transmitted through or reflected on the original when the original is irradiated with light from a light source part 103, and for applying an A/D conversion to the data; a range determining means 107 for analyzing the image data inputted by the A/D converting part 102 and determining a data range smaller than the image data in accordance with the analyzed result; and an output means 106 for outputting the image data on the original newly inputted to the A/D converting part 102 within the data range determined by the data range determining means 107.
