OPTICAL FIBER AND OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM USING THE SAME

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber in which dispersion and core effective cross-sectional area are optimally balanced and also which is suitably used in a WDM transmission system at both wavelength bands of a 1300nm-band and a 1550nm-band.

SOLUTION: This optical fiber has a center core having a refractive index n1and a radius r1and a first side core having a refractive index r2and a radius r2at the circumference and a second side core having a refractive index n3and a radius r3at the circumference and moreover a clad layer having a refractive index n0at the outside of the circumference and in which the refractive index profile parameterαof the center core is≥3 and < infinity and respective refractive indexes satisfy a relation of n1>n3>n0>n2. The absolute value in which specific refractive index differences of the first side core area from r1to r2equivalent to the cross-sectional area of the first side core area are integrated is≤0.62%μm and dispersion in a wavelength of 1300nm is≥-10.0ps/nm/km and≤-2.5ps/nm/km and the core effective cross-sectional area in a wavelength of 1550nm is≥50um2and≤75um2.
