<p>The filter for sepn. of sub. microscopic particles from liq. and gases consists of a perforated cylindrical shell packed with microporous borosilicate fibres, surrounded by a hollow support and strengthened by a resinous material. The ends of the hollow support are combined with the filter shell through packing e.g. epoxy resin of a viscosity of 14 poises, in order to prevent the movement of the shell. The fibres are packed in such a way that the pores are in the range of 50 mu. The filter shell and the support can be surrounded by a plastic layer which can act as a forefilter, if flow is inwards and as an entrainer if the flow is outwards. The support may consist of an expanded metal e.g. cadmium steel.</p> |
