<p>Process for the production of "space-dyed" materials by (1) making a tufted carpet-like material from threads (e.g. multi-filament nylon threads) needled into a base material e.g. of paper, jute, polyurethane, etc., (2) dyeing the whole material with a chosen base colour, and fixing in the usual way, e.g. by steaming or heating; (3) printing a pattern of series of patterns onto the material in any desired combination of colours, and fixing the dyes, and (4) pulling the thread back out of the base layer to give a random, "space-dyed" thread. Simpler and quicker than known space-dyeing techniques.</p> |
