Cement-bonded chipboard with plastics surface coatings - applied as a dispersion to the preform before pressing

Prodn. of single- or multi-layer boards from cement-bonded wood chips, in which a cement-compatible polymer dispersion is applied to at least one surface of the preform before pressing. Used esp. as wall sheets. Weather resistance is improved, the water absorption being reduced by a factor of SO. Flexural strength is increased by around 20% and resistance to bending improved, esp. when treated on both sides. Adhesion of paint coatings is increased. Amt. of polymer used is small, since it is only applied to the outer layer.
