1482681 Dental anchoring devices A J SMITH 3 Dec 1975 [3 Dec 1974] 52277/74 Heading A5R A dental anchoring device comprises a threaded portion 10 for self-tapping insertion in a bore formed in a tooth understructure, a shank 11, and a weakened neck 16 intermediate the portion 10 and one end of shank 11, for permitting separation of shank 11 from portion 10, the free end of the shank having a flat portion 13 and a part-annular groove 14 whereby the shank can be latched in a latching-type dental handpiece. The shank is of circular cross-section substantially throughout its length. The threaded portion may be formed in two parts (20), (21) Fig. 3, (not shown), connected by a further neck (22) which is weaker than the neck connecting the threaded portion to the shank whereby neck (22) breaks first and the handpiece can be used to insert threaded parts in two bores in the tooth underestructure without reloading being necessary. |
