1512929 Coking non-coking coal BRITISH PETROLEUM CO Ltd 3 Aug 1976 [18 Aug 1975] 32284/76 Addition to 1383170 Heading C5E In an improvement of the process for the conversion of non-coking coal into coke claimed in Specification 1,383,170, the binder which is mixed with the coal paste before subjection to a conventional coking treatment is produced by blowing, at a temperature of at least 340‹C., an extract which may be (a) a primary extract obtained by solvent extraction of vacuum distillates of crude petroleum, (b) a secondary extract obtained by reextraction of a primary extract with a solvent or by cooling of a primary extract to cause phase separation, or (c) extract resins obtained from secondary extracts by treatment with a solvent for paraffinic and naphthenic hydrocarbons. The blowing is effected using a mixture of an oxygencontaining gas and steam or an inert gas. |
