<p>An improved process for preparing phthalaldehydic acid which comprises hydrolysing pentachloroxylene of the formula by heating a mixture of pentachloroxylene and phthalaldehydic acid in water at 80 - 180.degree.C. Phythalaldehydic acid is used in light-sensitive compositions and for preparing 1(2H)-phthalazinone.</p> |
