<p>A suction pipe is located over the molten slag at a predetermined height so that slag is sucked up the pipe; a water jacket surrounds the end of the pipe and water is sprayed into the tube so the slag is transformed into pellets which are sucked into a separator where the pellets and the water are sepd. from vapour and air. The separator pref. consists of two hoppers, one placed on top of the other and the bottom of both fitted with hinged shutters. A vacuum pipe is fitted in the upper hopper, the vacuum providing the suction in the pipe located above the slag and the water jacket cools the end of the suction pipe as well as providing the spray. For use in conjunction with casting ladles, arc and induction furnaces, esp. in steel making.</p> |
