Radial upsetting machine - with piston seal rings and lubricant retainer grooves in liners

A radial upsetting machine is equipped with a rotatable hollow spindle for the passage of a workpiece. Radial bores with a sleeve guide pistons with a saddle at the inward end for the upsetting pressure. The pistons are fitted with piston rings and with peripheral and longitudinal grooves for the return of surplus lubricant. The arrangement prevents lubricant from contacting the workpiece so that this can be upset in the hot condition. Overheating of pistons and combustion of the lubricant are eliminated and the functional reliability of the machine is raised.
