PURPOSE:The titled inexpensive foundation, obtained by bonding and integrating a specific surface layer on a base layer consisting of a needle punched felt and a fabric made of aromatic polyamide fiber yarns as warps, and capable of preventing the contact with needles by the floating of the foundation due to no occurrence of elongation. CONSTITUTION:A foundation for card clothing, obtained by bonding and laminating a needle punched felt 4 to a fabric 5 made of aromatic polyamide fiber yarns as at lest warps with e.g. a resin adhesive 6, etc. to form a base layer 3, integrating a fabriclike material 2 consisting of synthetic fiber yarns with fiber mat laminated materials (a) and (b), needle punching the integrated materials to give a needle punched felt, and laminating and bonding the resultant needle punched felt as a surface layer 1 to the base layer 3 with a resin adhesive 7, e.g. an acrylic resin.
