A foot support for foot covering, in particular for sports shoes, has a support band device with strap or band parts which extend upwards and at an angle towards the front from the shoe inner sole or from an insole and have at their free band ends fastening means so that they can either be fixed to one another over the central part of the foot or on the other hand fastened and held in the place intended for them by being connected to the relevant surface of a shoe part. The band parts can moreover extend upwards from an approximately central section of the shoe inner sole so that not only the central part of the foot is surrounded by this support band device but that the side parts also of the foot back are equally fixed by the band parts of elastic design, in order thus to guarantee a complete foot back support in addition to a firm surround of the central foot. Lastly, a heel strap can also be connected to the band parts, which extends backwards around the heel and on the whole further improves the support for the foot during use of the shoe.
