16-260 Case 1431 PROCESS FOR BLEACHING CELLULOSE PULP BY ACTIVATION WITH NO2 AND OXYGEN AND ALKALI-EXTRACTION AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURE WITH CELLULOSE DEGRADATION A process is provided for delignifying bleaching chemical cellulose pulp, contacting the pulp in an activation stage in the presence of water with a gas phase containing NO2 and oxygen gas, so that intermediary NO is utilized for activating the pulp, followed by an alkali treatment of the pulp, both the activation stage and alkali treatment are carried out under drastic conditions, at such a high temperature during the activation stage that a certain degradation of the cellulose molecules is obtained, and at a temperature of 95 to 150.degree.C. during the alkali treatment over a treatment time exceeding 45 minutes at 95.degree.C. |
