<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the amount of converter slag formed and the amount of slag discarded by dephosphorizing molten pig iron discharged from a blast furnace, refining the dephosphorized molten pig iron by blowing in a converter and charging formed slag into the blast furnace so as to utilize the slag for smelting in the furnace. CONSTITUTION:Iron ore is smelted in a blast furnace 1 to manufacture molten pig iron and this molten pig iron is charged into a molten pig iron pot 4 through the casting hearth 2 of the furnace 1. At this time, a dephosphorizing agent 3 is added to the molten pig iron on the hearth 2 to dephosphorize the molten pig iron. The dephosphorized molten pig iron is charged into a converter 5 and refined by blowing with less slag and formed slag is returned to the furnace 1. Thus, the amount of slag discarded is reduced and a discarding place is easily ensured.</p> |
