Very high current intensities occur from time to time in special transformers, for example of more than 15 kA, which lead to the high-current conductors being severely heated. According to the invention, a screen conductor (2, 4, 6) is assigned to a current-carrying conductor (1, 3, 5) such that they are physically parallel, and the current-carrying conductors (1, 3, 5) are connected in DC terms to the associated screen conductors (2, 4, 6) via potential links, the resultant current in the screen conductor (2, 4, 6) in each case being equal to zero. High-current conductors designed according to the invention permit current intensities of any desired magnitude, even when operating with 50 Hz single-phase AC or three-phase, in the vicinity of metallic structural parts, without special individual screens being required for the respectively affected parts. <IMAGE>
