The invention relates to a separable or permanent optical connection, in particular a plug connection, between two optoelectronic semiconductor components, in particular an optical transmitter and an optical receiver. The optical transmitter or the optical receiver has an integrated hollow cylinder. This optical connection is intended to be simple, reliable and space-saving and is to be produced without resorting to additional parts, for example an optical waveguide as coupling medium. For this purpose, the invention provides for an optoelectronic semiconductor component to be constructed as a plug socket (1) with an integrated hollow cylinder (4) and the other optoelectronic semiconductor component to be constructed as a plug (2) and for the plug (2) to be capable of being plugged directly into the plug socket (1).
