In a joint fitting for seats with adjustable back, consisting essentially of a fixed joint part (3) assigned to the seat, a pivotable joint part (4) assigned to the back, a pivoting shaft (5) interconnecting and supporting both joint parts, and an adjusting and immobilising device in the form of a self-locking gearing which is arranged between the joint parts (3), (4), is formed from spur gear (7) and internal ring gear (6) and can be driven by a rotatable eccentric, mounted on the pivoting shaft (5), in a rolling-off manner while pivoting the pivotable joint part (4), the two joint parts (3, 4) are mounted, in a manner with little axial play, between two bearing discs (13, 15) of large diameter which are fixed on the pivoting shaft (5). Whereas the first bearing disc (13) is fixedly connected to the pivoting shaft (5), the second bearing disc (15) is rigidly connected to the pivoting shaft (5) only by rotational locking and is secured by a securing plate (42) which is non-rotatably fitted onto the pivoting shaft and engages in the second bearing disc (15). <IMAGE>
