<p>A rotary joint for a rotating heat exchanging drum directly attached to the end of the drum journal utilizes a flange and adapter to mount a seal on the journal and the joint body is fixed with respect to the journal and supports a seal plate in which an annular seal is biased toward the journal mounted plate by springs. The body mounted seal includes differential pressure area surfaces to balance the fluid pressures imposed thereon, and the springs are isolated from the fluid within the body. The joint eliminates metal-to-metal engagement of moving parts, and the seals may be readily replaced when worn.</p> |
