Magnetic disc drive mechanism with cache memory - contg. separate regions for input and output data for reduced access times and increased throughput

A magnetic disc drive performs a read/write operation depending on an instruction from a main computer. The drive contains at least one magnetic disk or fixed for data storage, a cache memory (2) for temporary storage of output data being read from the disk and input data from the main computer in separate regions (21, 22) and a data communication device. The data communications device transfers output data to be read from the disk into the cache memory and from cache memory to the main computer and transfers input data from the main computer to the cache memory and from the chache memory to the disk. USE/ADVANTAGE - Prevents loss of cache/data adnd enables reduced access times and increased input/output data throughout.
