Solid residue inactivation - by reductive melting, oxidn., and processing to glass or ceramic

Inactivation of solid residues, esp. from waste incineration and flue gas cleaning, is carried out by melting under reducing conditions, followed by remelting under oxidising conditions and/or subjecting to oxidative treatment and then further processing conventionally to glass products or porous or dense ceramics. ADVANTAGE - The process eliminates noxious substances and allows direct further processing of the molten silicate product to glass products or ceramics (e.g. glass wool for use as insulating material).
