The invention relates to a system and a method for compensation by downstream correction. The system and the method are employed with a spacecraft (19) for compensating predictable perturbations (11) exerted on the spacecraft (19). The perturbation (11) is modelled and means (16) such as sensors are used in order to ascertain the moment when the perturbation appears. Means (18, 14) apply the compensation by downstream correction of the spacecraft (19) as a function of the model. Thus, the transient phenomena affecting the aligning or orientation of the spacecraft on ecliptic passage, for example, are attenuated.
