An assembly of an inner conical adapter nose (21) and outer tooth (20) having a coaxial conical inner recess (24), the tooth having spaced helical ears (25, 27) which mesh with the spaced helical grooves (34) in the base of the adapter (21), and at least one key (22) adapted to be inserted into a keyway (28) passing through the adapter base (21) and one tooth ear (25, 27) in a direction generally perpendicular to the coaxis and tangential to the recess (24). The recess (24) is conical with a mating conical adapter head (31) and the tooth ears (25, 27) are arranged in a square and mate with grooves (34) on the adapter base (21) arranged in a square, and the lands between the grooves (34) of the base substantially fill the spaces between the tooth ears (25, 27).
