The invention concerns a honeycomb body (2), in particular a catalyst carrier element, with a plurality of channels (8, 12) through which a fluid can flow. A first group of channels (12) has a higher flow resistance than a second group of channels (8) and the honeycomb element has at least one eccentric accumulation or concentration (15, 16) of such channels (12) of relatively higher flow resistance covering only part of the cross-sectional area in the direction of the circumference. The channels (12) of relatively higher flow resistance have in particular smaller hydraulic diameters than the other channels (8) or are provided at the inlet and/or the outlet ends and/or in their interiors with additional structures to impede flow. Honeycomb bodies can thus be produced in which the distributions of the flow resistances over the cross-sectional area can be defined exactly and matched to the flow conditions, which can be particularly advantageous when such a honeycomb is fitted downstream of honeycomb bodies provided with electrical heating and slits.
