Grinding procedure for coarse material

The coarse material is fed from a feed roller(1) rotating at one speed to a cutter roller(2) rotating at a second speed which is considerably greater than the feed speed. The power consumption of the cutter roller is monitored and the feed speed reduced in the power consumption rises. The feed roller and cutter roller are stopped if the power consumption rises above an overload value. An Independent claim is included for a grinder which operates in the proposed manner and which has an electric or hydraulic motor driven cutter roller with a current or pressure sensor transmitting a signal to a regulator for governing the speed of the feed roller.
