PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CD player capable of securing high detecting performance against an object such as a disk while simplifying the device by the use of a reflection type optical device. SOLUTION: A single unit of reflection type photo-interrupter 7 having a light receiving/emitting face 7a is mounted on a printed circuit board 5, through a plastic-made spacer (base) 8 at a prescribed tilt angleθ. The spacer 8 is constituted so that the upper main surface has a prescribed tilt angleθagainst the lower main surface. The lead 7b of the reflection type photo-interrupter 7 is inserted into the guide hole (guide part) 8a provided in the spacer 8, with the tip end of the lead 7b connected to the printed circuit board 5. In the part oppositely facing the light receiving/emitting face 7a of the photo-interrupter in the upper part 4 of the mechanism, an inclined surface is formed that is parallel to the light receiving/emitting face 7a, with a silver-made reflection sheet (light reflecting material layer) 9 glued onto the surface.
