PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dynamo electric machine of simple constitution which allows local temperature rise to be sufficiently suppressed and produces less vibration and noise. SOLUTION: A dynamo electric machine is provided with a stator core 2, having winding housing slots 3 and stator windings 4 which are housed in the winding housing slots 3 and to which a plurality of alternating currents, being out of phase, are applied. The stator core 2 are split in the axial direction into a plurality of packets, and a plurality of duct pieces 9 placed at intervals in the circumferential direction and extending in the radial direction are placed between the packets. Furthermore, the dynamo electric machine is so formed that a coolant gas is circulated between the adjoining duct pieces. The duct pieces 9 are formed of a magnetic material and are so arranged, that they are placed in positions corresponding to core teeth 8 which forms the slots. Moreover, the duct pieces 9 are so designed that their width in the circumferential direction differs according to the maximum flux density of the core teeth 8.
