PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a desired function even when a program size for full functions is too large to be stored in a RAM of a processor. SOLUTION: This image processing unit is provided with a processor 10 that conducts image processing, a RAM 4 that stores a processing program, a ROM 5 that stores the processing program and data, a ROM loader 6 that transfers the data stored in the ROM 4 to the RAM 4, a CPU 2 that controls the ROM loader 6, and an operation panel 1 that enters instructions for desired picture. The CPU 2 selects a program loaded from the ROM 5 to the RAM 4 depending on a function required for each of a scanner, a facsimile terminal, a copying machine and a printer when the ROM loader 6 executes any function of them.
