PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform water repellency-imparting treatment to the coating film of a car while shortening working hours and improving working efficiency by simultaneously wiping drops of water after car washing and forming a water repellent membrane by means of a dry cloth soaked with a water repellent ingredient. SOLUTION: This water-repellency-imparting treatment is carried out by simultaneously wiping drops of water after car washing and forming a water repellent membrane by means of a dry cloth such as a textile made of a lipophilic fiber (e.g. polypropylene fiber, or the like) as a material soaked with a water repellent ingredient selected from the group consisting of a silicon compound, a fluorocompound, natural or synthetic wax, and a wax-like substance. A part or the whole of fibers used in the dry cloth is preferably composed of an ultra fine fiber having a fineness <0.3 denier. It is preferable to form water repellent membrane by wiping the coating film of a car by means of the dry cloth soaked with the water repellent ingredient in a wetted state with water.
