FOOT-HEMMING METHOD FOR HEMMING LONG CLOTH AND FOOT-HEMMING APPARATUS FOR USE IN THE SAME

A novel method of forming a foot-hemmed portion along a hem portion of long cloth which is thick and gorgeous, without causing any load. The gist of the method includes: 1) a step of folding an outside hem portion (42a) and a central portion (42b) by a rolling member (21) toward a side surface of an arcuate guide (15) which has a guide surface having an approximately arcuate cross section; 2) a step of rolling up the folded outside hem portion (42a) and central portion (42b) around the arcuate guide (15) by a rolling-up member (22); 3) a step of positioning a second section plate (13) which continuously extends from an end of the arcuate guide (15), between the outside hem portion (42a) and the central portion (42b); 4) a step of folding the outside hem portion (42a) toward the second section plate (13) by a rolled-piece forming member (23); and 5) a step of folding the outside hem portion (42a) and the central portion (42b) onto an inside hem portion (42c) by a guide curved surface (13a) of the second section plate (13), thereby forming a foot-hemmed portion (41) along a hem portion (42).
