PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive a TMDS-transmitted image signal with various resolutions at a suitable display position on a liquid crystal panel. SOLUTION: A digital I/F circuit 1A decodes an image signal or the like TMDS-transmitted from a signal source, and outputs a digital image signal, a synchronous signal, a panel enable signal, and a dot clock. A polarity determining circuit 4 determines polarity of the panel enable signal, and outputs it with always fixing the polarity. A first counter 5A measures a phase difference in a dot clock unit between a starting edge and s finishing edge of the panel enable signal, and detects a horizontal resolution. A second counter 6A measures duration of the panel enable signal outputted in one vertical period in a horizontal synchronous signal unit, and detects a vertical resolution. An image signal processing circuit 2A performs an optimal image process based on these resolution information.
