PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of charging an ethylenically unsaturated monomer which can reduce undesired adhesion and residues of the water-soluble ethylenically unsaturated monomer and can prevent undesired adhesion and growth of a polymer of the ethylenically unsaturated monomer. SOLUTION: An aqueous solution comprising an ethylenically unsaturated monomer is charged via an inlet 15c into a mixing tower 15. A spray 30a starts to spray water 30b continuously to the inner surface of the mixing tower 15 before or when the monomer aqueous solution is charged. The mixing tower 15 comprises the first mixing part also used as a cyclone chamber and the second mixing part also used as a charging tube which follows the first mixing part, and an intermittent flow of water starts to be supplied from above to the outer surface of the second mixing part before the monomer aqueous solution is charged through a nozzle 15a into a polymerization chamber 18.
