PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optimal sensitivity over a wide signal range. SOLUTION: A reader for reading radiograph is disclosed. This device has an array of image forming elements for detecting a radiograph and converting the image to an electric charge expression. In order to integrate a detected charge amount, a charge integrating means is connected to the array of image forming elements. The charge storage capacity of this charge integrating means is controlled according to the expected charge amount.
